Mangrove Island

In the early 1960s there were barrier islands on the Southwest Coast of Florida that were largely inhabited by fishermen and working-class people, but that world was changing. “Come heres”were moving in and the towns and villages were growing. The wild places were still there, but you needed to look for them.

On Mangrove Island, a native son, Steve Swensen, returned to the island to start a nursery business, and a young reporter, Ingrid Johnson took a job working for the local newspaper, “The Mangrove Island News”. Together they would help solve a mystery.
